Well, it's June already. Where does the time go??
The last few weekends we have been helping JD & Soni get their house ready to move into. I've helped pack some, pulled staples, scraped up floors, sheetrock mudded, textured the walls, painted, baby sat, and been relieved when it was time to go back to the old house, take a bath, and get to bed.
Soni is also getting ready to go visit her family for 7 weeks, so things are kind of crazy for them. Their carpet is laid in the bedrooms, and they were laying down the floor in the living and dining room today. I hope they got a lot done.
My brother is going to go up on Wed. and get the air conditioner finished and help them get the water pump going. Soni took one of my nieces, Abby, with them to watch the kids. That will be much better than trying to keep them out of the way.
This weekend we had a Smith Family Reunion. It was really nice to see my cousins and their
families. Unfortunately, my camera didn't make it to the reunion. I'm hoping that those that took pictures will post their pictures on email or something.
We had a hot dog roast on Friday night, at Becky's.
On Saturday, at Uncle Ivan's shop, a full blown dinner with Grandma Smith's famous rolls, chili sauce, apple butter, pear honey, cole slaw, mashed potatoes, pulled pork, turkey, pickled beets, plenty of gravy, butter, School Boy Cookies, and lots of angel food cake. We shared pictures and there were Grandma & Grandpa Smith's old movies going on the TV. There were receipe cards for all Grandma's dishes, and every family got a jar of Chili Sauce, and Apple Butter.
This morning a Pancake Feed at Mama's house, with a hymn sing out at the front porch. Then for lunch, brisket, potato salad, pasta salad, turkey, more rolls, and Punch Bowl Cake. It was also Uncle Ivan and Aunt Ann's 55th anniversary on the 4th, and the 115th anniversary of Grandma Smith's birth is today. Good to see everyone, maybe next time I'll be more prepared and get pictures done ahead of time.
