A September Sunrise

Tuesday evening I decided that I would like to see the sunrise from the pond. I woke up around 4:50 on Wednesday morning and got going. I needed to go to Wal-Mart to pick up a piece of fabric for the gift I am making Kim Duncan's baby shower, so I went there first.
I stopped by the donut shop on the way out of town, and picked up a half dozen donuts for Mama, Becky and myself to have with our coffee.
Gus came walking up when I got there. I parked the truck so that I could sit in the bed and watch the sun come up. The stars were so bright and clear. I will be so glad when I can walk out of my house and see them that clearly. I sat in the quiet darkness and waited. While I sat there I heard hoof beats coming from the south. Red made his appearance.
It was a beautiful clear sky on this morning. It doesn't make quite as spectacular a sunrise, but it makes star gazing wonderful. The sun started coloring the sky and a few wispy clouds were showing off to the southeast. As color started showing on the horizon, the stars faded out one by one.
I could hear quail calling and mourning doves cooing. I heard what I'm sure was a deer behind me on the other side of the pond. A big bullfrog was booming from somewhere close by, and I heard a fish flip out of the water. The sun made a spectacular scene out of the row of hedge trees on the far east side of the pasture. At one point the sunrays showed up like a crown on the horizon.
What an awesome simple experience. All I had to do was show up, and God did the rest. It was a wonderful time with God's great artistry.
I had a nice visit over coffee and donuts with Mama and Becky. What a great morning!

Update on Mom

Just wanted to give an update on Mom. She stayed 2 nights in the hospital. Her thyroid level was high, so they started her on medication, and she has been fine. Her and Tim spent the night here last night. She really wanted to go home today, so we have been checking on her throughout the day. We made sure she is taking all the meds she needs to and she is feeling good about being home.

Weekend

We went to JD and Soni's for the weekend. Soni's parents were headed back home to Albania on Saturday and they wanted us to come stay with the kids so they wouldn't have to take them to the KC airport on Saturday morning. We did get the kids up to say goodbye, it was tearful but better at home. The tears didn't last too long after they were gone. It started to rain a little later in the morning, and continued off and on through Sunday morning. We got a nice rain.
Soni and I had taken the kids to Sunday School when JD texted and said Mom had passed out in church at El Dorado. They had taken her to the ER by ambulance. So we hurried back to the house, loaded up our things and headed back to El Dorado. She was still in the ER when we got into town. They couldn't find anything wrong to explain what happened, so they put her in the hospital to observe her for at least a night. She did pass out once more when a nurse took her to the bathroom, but wasn't out nearly as long as she was at church. They got her back in bed with a lot of good help from their rapid response team. Hopefully she will be able to come home tomorrow.

What a Beautifull Day!!

We have had a wonderfully pleasant day today. I think the high was around 80. We had a north wind and beautiful blue skies. We went to Grace's baby shower over at Tim's house. It was very nice and Grace got some really nice, cute things. Three of the expecting cousins were there today. There are 2 more cousins that are expecting soon too. Life goes on. What a wonderful blessing from God, to have 5 new babies in our extended family within the next year! Ellis went with us, and once he got going, he was a flirt and a real showoff. Next Saturday is Sarah and Bills wedding. It's going to be a beautiful wedding. So happy for all the happy couples.

Jim

Well we are back home a week early. Jim, Joel's father passed away on Tuesday night the 30th of August. There was no point in staying out in Colorado while Joel and Jennifer came back here, so we all came back on Wed. morning. They have been busy making arrangements and seeing to finishing up the business end of things for Jim. Ellis is easy to satisfy and is a good boy, so it has been nice to watch him for the kids. Jim's funeral is on Sat morning at 9:30 at the Christian Church in Potwin.
